Howdy, folks! I’m writing an extra post this month share some wonderful news!
Some of you may remember I changed my blog schedule this year to allow extra time to work on a “super secret project.” As of today, that project is secret no more. The time for the big reveal has come!!! Ready?
……*DRUMROLL*……
I’m writing another cookbook!!! π π π
I am WILDLY excited to finally be able to share the news with you. I kept it under wraps at first because we needed to finalize contract stuff, then it took foreeeeeeeever for me to find time to write this post (I blame my kids. And my tight cooking schedule. And staying up late watching Call the Midwife instead of getting ahead on work. π ). But now here we are! * cue giddy squealing *
Here’s the juicy details: After my current cookbook, A Literary Tea Party, snagged 4th place in the Goodreads Choice Awards food category (many thanks to all who voted BTW), my publisher asked if I wanted to write another book. And I was like:
So we set to work! The current title is A Literary Holiday Party, and it’s set to come out in Sept. 2020. It features full menus of literary recipes for New Years, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas (plus cocktails—yum! π). You’ll have all the recipes you need to throw holiday parties inspired by A Christmas Carol, Redwall, Wizard of Oz, and more! I’m amping up the fanciness factor with some elegant recipes and sophisticated flavor combos, but it’s still my goal to make my recipes as approachable as possible. I want anyone to feel like they can sit down with this book and make a recipe no matter what their skill level, though there will be a few recipes that offer a challenge for those who crave it (to that end, I highly recommend the Chocolate Strawberry Opera Cake from Phantom of the Opera).
Since the custom tea section was such a big hit in the last book, I wanted to have a special holiday-centric bonus section in this book. I decided to create a section for “food gifts”: recipes that make great hostess gifts, party favors, door prizes, etc. Plus, a lot of them feature in larger recipes throughout the book, so if, say, people at your Halloween party really like the London Fog Mystery Cookies you made, you can give them Earl Grey infused sugar to take home to make their own cookies.
I’ll share more details as things develop!
Mark your calendars for Sept. 2020,
and keep your eyes peeled for a cover reveal in future months! π
Congratulations!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! I’m closing in on my last couple months of recipe testing. It’s been a wild ride! I can’t wait to share everything.
That is awesome! Way to go π
Thanks! I’m SO excited!
Congrats – it sounds great!
Thank you! I’ve been having lots of fun putting it together. Can’t wait to share it with everyone! π
YES!! Redwall, here I come!!
I’ve especially enjoyed working on the Redwall recipes. My re-interpretation of the Loamhedge Legacy Nutbread has toasted walnuts, fresh rosemary, AND roasted garlic!
Sounds DELICIOUS!! Can’t wait!!
