TTT: Top 10 Books I Plan to Read to Baby

Posted January 24, 2017 by Alison's Wonderland Recipes in Link Up / 8 Comments

Most of the Top Ten Tuesday prompts this month revolved around reading goals, but with a new baby arriving any day now, I have virtually no reading goals for this year. So instead I decided to do a slight twist on the suggested theme and write a Top 10 list that was more applicable to my current station in life.

I got a big stack of picture books as shower gifts, and I’m already looking forward to reading to our new little person. The books listed below are the top ten books I’m most looking forward to sharing with Baby. Enjoy! 🙂

Top 10 Books I Plan to Read to Baby

 a

The Library by Sarah Stewart

This was a favorite of mine growing up, because I LOVED to go to the library!

If You Give a Moose a Muffin by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond

I know “If You Give a Mouse A Cookie” is the first in the series, but I was always partial to the moose version.

The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything by Linda Williams and Megan Lloyd

This was a gift from my mother-in-law. It was one of my favorite Halloween books as a kid…and it turns out my husband loved it too!

Tatterhood and the Hobgoblins by Lauren Mills

I’m pretty sure this was my favorite book growing up. I actually wrote a post about it here. It’ll probably be too wordy for Baby at first, but it’s SO getting dusted off once Baby’s ready for longer stories!

The Napping House by Audrey and Don Wood

Another childhood favorite. Do you think if I read it enough times, Baby will get the gist of napping? Because if the amount of time they’ve spent kicking in utero is anything to judge by, sleep will be a new and difficult concept.

The ABCs of RPGs by Ivan Van Norman and Caleb Cleveland

This was a gift from a friend, and I already love it. It’s so thoughtfully crafted, and the illustrations are adorable.

Pajama Time by Sandra Boynton

One of the boys I used to nanny LOVED Sandra Boynton books, and this one was my favorite. The sing-song rhythm of the text makes it a really fun read.

Saints on the Go by Chantal Baros

This was another gift from a friend. I love the little saint descriptions and the unique take on the transportation theme (I think canoes and horses are way more fun to read about than trains and airplanes).

The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear by Audrey and Don Wood

Is there anyone who DIDN’T love this book as a kid? Plus, it’s never too soon to introduce Baby to the Oxford Comma. 😉

King Bidgood’s in the Bathtub by Audrey and Don Wood

The illustrations are GORGEOUS, and the lyrical cadence to the prose make it fun to get into the rhythm of the story.

What books would you recommend for Baby? 🙂
