You may remember last August when I shared a post about my very first comic con. In short, it was AWESOME. I had no idea what I was missing out on all this time! This past weekend, I went to an even BIGGER comic book convention, the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (or C2E2 for short). I was originally planning on publishing a different post today, but I had such a blast at the con that I decided to scrap my plans and share the geeky wonderfulness of C2E2 with you! 😀

There were definitely more people doing cosplay at this convention than the last one. I saw some Halo costumes that looked downright authentic, and LOADS of Kylo Rens and Reys. But I have to say my favorite costumes were the kids’ costumes. I mean, what’s cuter than a tiny Superman toddling around? I can’t decide if the highlight of my day was seeing a baby BB-8 or a Kylo Ren and Rey dancing to “You’re the One that I Want” at the Just Dance station. 🙂

In terms of loot, I didn’t buy nearly as much stuff as I did at my last con. In fact, I was a little disappointed with the variety of mediums in artists’ alley (the section where vendors sell handmade art and collectibles). Though this con was bigger than the last one I went to, almost all the artists were selling drawings or paintings. Don’t get me wrong, they were all super talented, but the last con had more “crafted” items. I missed seeing Avenger plushies, Star Wars pillows, and Totoro mugs alongside all the character portraits and fantasy landscapes.

But what I DID buy made my day: the Mister found the tea booth I loved from our last comic con! It’s called Tea & Absinthe (I should probably clarify they don’t actually sell absinthe; they just have a steampunk theme). They mix their own loose teas, which are FANTASTIC, and lots of their teas have fandom themes (like Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Who). So I just HAD to pick up Irish Whiskey Cream, my favorite of the two flavors I tried last year, and some Alice-themed Drink Me tea! I brewed some Irish Whiskey Cream yesterday, and it’s just as good as I remember—robust and chocolaty with nutty undertones. Mmm…I feel warm and toasty just thinking about it! So of course I have to start today with some more, right? Of course right. 😉
